Depression Counselling
When you're finding it hard to recognise yourself
Depression can affect every part of your life. You may feel exhausted all the time, struggle to find motivation or wonder why things that once mattered no longer seem important. Some people describe feeling overwhelmed by emotion, while others feel nothing at all. It can be difficult to explain to those around you, especially when you're trying your best to carry on as though everything is fine.
If you've been wondering whether life will always feel this difficult, you don't have to face it alone.
I offer online and telephone depression counselling to adults across the UK. Together, we'll take the time to understand what's happening, make sense of your thoughts and emotions, and explore what may be contributing to the way you're feeling. We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, helping life feel less overwhelming and more manageable again.

What Is Depression?
Depression is much more than feeling sad. It can change the way you think, the way you feel and the way you experience everyday life. You may feel constantly exhausted, lose interest in the things you once enjoyed or find yourself withdrawing from other people because everything feels like too much.
For some people, depression develops gradually. For others, it can follow bereavement, a significant life change or a particularly difficult period in life. It often exists alongside anxiety, making it hard to switch off your thoughts or imagine that things could ever feel different.
When you're living with depression, it's easy to believe that something is wrong with you or that you'll always feel this way. Together, we'll take the time to understand your experience, make sense of what's happening and explore what may be contributing to the way you're feeling. Understanding what's beneath your depression is often the first step towards finding a way forward.
How I Work With Depression
Depression can leave you feeling as though you've lost yourself. You may be exhausted from trying to keep going, wondering why everything feels so difficult or questioning whether you'll ever feel like yourself again.
Our sessions aren't about telling you to think positively or simply trying to lift your mood. Together, we'll take the time to understand what's happening beneath the depression, exploring the experiences, thoughts and emotions that may have contributed to the way you're feeling. Sometimes that may be linked to bereavement or another significant life event. Sometimes it may have developed more gradually over time.
We'll work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you. I'll ask questions, help you make sense of what you're experiencing and gently encourage you to look at things from different perspectives when the time feels right. As your understanding grows, we'll explore practical ways of responding to the thoughts and feelings that have been keeping you stuck, helping life feel more manageable again.
